Sire, or Sire Revolution, as they say themselves, has a vision to reproduce the best aspects of the finest custom instruments with the precision of technology, from the best possible woods. Behind the reasonably priced quality instruments is Sire's own factory in Indonesia, and seamless cooperation with carefully selected top musicians. On the guitar side, Sira is assisted by Larry Carlton, who already earned his spur of the moment as a session guitarist in the 1970s, known from both Steely Dan and Joni Mitchell records, and of course from his long solo career. Carlton's special strength has always been his smooth control of a wide variety of music, thanks to which he is at home both in the challenging world of fusion jazz and in thousands of sessions, from which he has more than a hundred gold records on his wall.
When Sire and Carlton design an instrument together, it is a combination of tradition and modernity that puts versatile usability first in everything. Larry Carlton is best known for his 335 model guitar, after which he has also named his Room335 studio, so there are high expectations for the instrument.
The satin lacquered traditional red 335 classic type guitar closely follows the characteristics of Carlton's own favorite guitar. The body of the semi-acoustic guitar is double-layer maple laminate with a maple center bar, the C-profile neck is mahogany with an ebony fingerboard. As in Sire basses, the frets are rolled edges, meaning they continue to the sides of the fingerboard, offering a new, more natural playability. Bone saddle, Tune-o-Matic with stoptail and diecast mechanisms are faithful to tradition and reproduce the sound of the classic.
Sire Revolution directs part of its profits to music education for children, and has established schools in Kampuchea and Laos.
